Nutrition/Food Services

School meals will continue to be available to all students. Please visit the FFCS Food Services page for information about ordering meals, menus, how to have meals delivered during remote learning and applying for free and reduced-price meals.

Meals on-site

Breakfast will be prepackaged and distributed to students by the cafeteria staff as students go to their classrooms upon arrival. All packaging will be disposable for one-time use.

Lunch will be prepackaged and served in classrooms and in cafeterias depending on the grade. The district will ensure social distancing between individuals while eating in the school cafeteria.

One entree choice will be offered per meal, while maintaining provisions for students with allergies and special dietary restrictions.

All tables and high touch areas will be disinfected before a cohort/grade level enters and after the cohort/grade level has completed their meal. There will be NO self-serve items. No vending machines will be used.

Meals will be provided while maintaining appropriate social distancing between students. Students do not need to wear face coverings when seated and eating so long as they are appropriately socially distanced.

The sharing of food and beverages (e.g., buffet style meals, snacks) is prohibited, unless individuals are members of the same household. Adequate space will be reserved for students, faculty, and staff to observe social distancing while eating meals.

Students will not use a pin pad to enter their code numbers while purchasing school lunch. A touchless barcode scanner will be used, with a paper roster as a backup if necessary. Students will pre-order meals to save time and control waste.


Meals offsite/remote

Meals will be delivered to students’ homes based on a pre-ordering method.Parents will need to apply for free and reduced-price meals as a part of the pre-ordering process for home-delivered meals. There also will be an option for parents to pick-up bagged meals in the villages of Fonda and Fultonville at a specific time.

Meals will be available to all students, communication to parents will specify the guidelines for meal ordering.

Preordered meals will be charged to students’ accounts the same as if they were in-person. The cost of the meal will be charged to students’ meal accounts using their pin code, the same as they would if they were in the serving line. Those who apply and qualify for free and reduced-price meals will get their meals at no cost to the families, as it was last year.

Payments can be applied to students’ meal accounts through the use of Myschoolbucks or payments can be sent to school to the attention of FFCS Food Service.


Cafeteria Staff

All kitchen staff will be monitored daily with temperature checks and health screenings, which will be recorded and kept on file.

Anyone who exhibits any signs of illness will be sent home and advised to see their doctor.

Everyone will wear a mask and will have a designated workstation to promote safe distancing as much as possible.

With a staggered schedule, staff will have time to thoroughly clean and sanitize the kitchen and all equipment before other staff arrive.

The number of staff will be limited in the storeroom, freezer and cooler at any given time.

A staff member will be designated to oversee proper use of PPE and handwashing, glove use, etc.
