Who doesn’t love a birthday? Kindergartners teacher Wendy Sullivan recently held a birthday celebration for a beloved book character to engage her students in reading and writing.

Sullivan’s class welcomed elementary art teacher Angela Bermas to celebrate the 16th birthday of Pigeon. The Pigeon book series by author Mo Willems is a class favorite.

“We played games, made cards to mail to Pigeon, ate hot dogs & chocolate chip cookies (Pigeon’s favorites!), and sang Happy Birthday!” Sullivan said.
