The Fonda-Fultonville Middle School Builders Club has a long tradition of visiting the residents of the Hillcrest Spring Assisted Living Facility in Amsterdam. So, it’s no surprise that the students would be there for one of the residents’ big birthdays. The club went on Saturday, Nov. 16 to celebrate the 100th birthday of resident Gert Wojtkiewicz.

Students made Wojtkiewicz a birthday crown and a poster of what life was like back in 1919, the year she was born. They took photos with 1920s-themed photo booth props, sang, decorated cupcakes, and played games like 1900’s Name that Tune, 1900’s Trivia, and Pictionary.

“We visited Gert the day after her birthday, so according to her, she was 100+1 when we went, as it was her first day towards 101,” club adviser Kari Callery said. “She is so funny!”
