How have your experiences at FFCSD factored into your career?

FFCSD was one of the first places that really allowed me to be able to pursue my passion for learning and explore what I was truly passionate about! I always loved all of my English courses and music classes and I feel like both of these things played a big role in why I chose the career path I’ve been on.

What classes motivated you to pursue a career in marketing?

I would say all of the classes I took at FFCSD helped lead me down a path that helped me discover my passion for marketing, but most heavily I would say English courses were a large influence. I’ve always loved reading and writing, and I had so many amazing teachers at FFCSD that took the time to really challenge me and critique my writing in a way that helped me grow and incorporate this skill into my future career. I definitely think if more business and career focused courses were offered as part of the high school curriculum this would’ve made my decision even easier to make.

Best story you can share about your experiences in the entertainment industry?

My favorite part of my journey has been by far starting my own business. I have had a ton of amazing work and internship experiences in radio, marketing, management, and publishing, but having the chance to be able to scout talent to manage and help grow the foundation of their career has been the most fulfilling thing. I’ve also enjoyed branching out into all areas of entertainment with this business, because I now get the chance to manage all types of talented people including musicians, comedians, bloggers, makeup artists, dancers, and fashion designers!

What advice can you share with today’s students to be successful? Any do’s or don’ts to follow?

Don’t be afraid of having hobbies or passions that aren’t commonly recognized. Just because all of your friends aren’t doing it doesn’t mean it isn’t cool! I’m grateful I didn’t give up on playing piano and writing because it allowed me to turn my greatest passions into a viable career path. I would also say don’t be afraid to have big dreams! If you want to live in a big city or pursue a unique field, do it. Developing a strong work ethic and making plans for your future at this age can lay the groundwork for an incredible journey ahead.
