Health Update: GI and Respiratory Illness

Parents and Guardians,

We are seeing an increase in gastrointestinal and respiratory illnesses across the Fonda- Fultonville Central School buildings, as well as across the local counties.

These illnesses can be spread by bacteria or a virus and may include symptoms of nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, cough, chest pain, chills, congestion or runny nose, fatigue, fever, headache, shortness of breath, rash, and/or weakness.

Please watch your child for these symptoms, and contact your provider if symptoms are seen. If your child is ill, they may return to school when symptoms have improved, they have been fever free without medications for 24 hours, or have completed 24 hours of antibiotics.

We can take steps to reduce the risk of getting ill or spreading sickness by washing our hands, using hand sanitizer, and covering our mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing, staying hydrated and rested, and staying home when not feeling well.

Reach out to the nurses office with any questions, or if your child is home due to illness.

Thank you,
