Gov. Cuomo says schools can reopen this fall

Dear Fonda-Fultonville families,

Today Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that schools in New York state will reopen this fall, based on current COVID-19 infection rates. We are currently awaiting more detailed information and guidance from the executive order and how it relates to our reopening plan. We have received a lot of questions from our community since sharing our reopening plan last Friday, July 31. We appreciate your feedback. Please know we will carefully review this new information from the state as well as your feedback as we consider potential revisions to our plan. We will share any updates as soon as possible.

You will receive several emails from us next week. One of them will include an online transportation registration form. Your participation will be greatly appreciated. Your answers will help determine our school bus routes. You will also receive online free and reduced-price lunch forms, and we will share dates and times for our next round of virtual community forums.

We are excited and look forward to having our students, teachers and staff members together again at school. We remain focused on developing practices and protocols designed to mitigate risk and protect the safety and health of all, as we ensure the best possible academic experience for students. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me or your school building administrator if you have any questions or concerns. We sincerely appreciate your time, support and continued partnership.

Sincerely,

Thomas Ciaccio
Superintendent of Schools
