On Nov. 1 and 2, the FFCS Theatrical Company will proudly present the production, “Fast Food,” by Tracy Wells. “Fast Food” highlights multiple stories about crazy customers and staff who are all based in the world of fast food! Today, we get a secret sample of the work behind the scenes of this year’s production with F-F senior and Stage Manager Nico Calkins.
Learn how she works to make the story come alive and stay on time as the stage manager for this year’s production. She’s a key piece of the production team and works to provide this weekend’s attendees with a key component to the play’s storyline. Without further ado, meet Ms. Calkins!
How did you get into stage management?
I first got into stage management during my freshman year. I enjoyed my art class and joined the drama club. I began to get involved in building background sets and then transitioned to the stage manager role over time.
What does this show mean to you, especially as a senior?
I think it’s a funny production, and watching it kind of brings to mind my current employment in the retail world. I feel like this production trends between real life and the artist’s production.
How do you feel attendees will respond to this year’s show?
I think they’ll think it’s funny and family-oriented. It’s a great production that offers something for everyone.
For your future, what are looking to do?
Teaching art. I love art and the passion it brings for me, and I want to inspire others to do art and provide a safe space for them to learn and get inspired.
