During the week of July 12-16, the Fonda-Fultonville CSD was presented with the New York State Education Department Safety Drill Award at the New York Association for Pupil Transportation annual banquet held in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. The award, credited to districts that submitted a transportation safety drill video, recognizes a district’s ability to educate students on the safe evacuation of a school bus in the event of an emergency. The video also contributed to the district’s mandatory in-person training that is required by the New York State Education Department each school year.

“During COVID-19, the Fonda-Fultonville CSD Transportation Department continued to think of unique ways to connect with our school community, and more importantly, our students on school bus safety,” said Director of Transportation Donna Hayes. “In the end, the transportation department created an engaging video that allowed our students to access the proper way to practice school bus safety. We are honored to receive this award and feel that school bus safety can always be shared, regardless of the method, with students of all ages.”

Special production credit goes to FFCSD sixth grade teacher Laura Hayes-Bowles for assisting with the direction and creation of the video.
