FFCS Veterans Day Virtual Celebration

FFCS is proud to celebrate our nation’s veterans and active duty servicemen and women in our annual Veterans Day celebration. Our celebration may look differently this year, but we remain committed to honoring their sacrifices and thanking them for their service to our country.

FFES video salute

Superintendent Thomas Ciaccio gives our welcome address, and some of our fourth grade students share the history of Veterans Day, information about the branches of the military and more about our school’s efforts to honor our veterans. Special thanks to our students Rylan Aiken, Kennedy Cuddy, Kiran Janjua, Julianna Forbes, Liana Thum, Keegan Wemple, Alana Robbins and Xavior Cook, who are all brave for speaking on camera!

Fundraisers will help send veterans to visit war memorials in Washington, D.C.

Thanks to the generosity of our school community, FFCS raised $476 that was donated to the Leatherstocking Honor Flight. This non-profit organization honors veterans by transporting them to war memorials in Washington, D.C. This experience is provided at no cost to the veterans.

The elementary school sold more than 400 pinwheels through a fundraiser. The pinwheels are on display to honor veterans along the sidewalks in front of the elementary school. After Veterans Day, purchased pinwheels will be sent home with students.

District employees also donated the proceeds of their most recent “Dress Down Day” to the cause.
