District introduces faculty for the next generation of FFCS students

During the coming weeks, the FFCS is pleased to introduce the district’s newest teachers that will continue to usher in the classroom success that’s expected from our district. Today, we are excited to announce the first two teachers as part of this introductory series. Welcome Ms. Batz and Mr. DeJesus. Learn more about how they are engaging today’s students while laying the groundwork for tomorrow.

Welcome to the FFCS!!

Jesse Batz, Math & Algebra

FFHS Math and Algebra Teacher Ms. Batz.

Ms. Batz comes to the FFCS district from SUNY Oneonta where she received a Bachelor of Science in Adolescent Education in Mathematics. She also will graduate with her Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction this month from the Fall 2022 semester. She’s currently teaching seventh-grade math and algebra to accelerated eighth-grade students.

“Interacting with students is key to being able to establish connections while teaching,” she said. “A sense of humor helps to build relationships and allows students to figure out classwork problems without the stress that might normally occur in the classroom.”

Mr. DeJesus, Earth Science

Mr. DeJesus joins the district from the Amsterdam Central School District. Mr. DeJesus has already jumped into his curriculum and is engaging students with creative opportunities to learn and develop their learning skills. Primarily teaching Earth science to ninth-grade students, he continues to be involved in increasing student success in a class-friendly environment. In addition, he uses that same process to share information with families and caregivers to keep them informed of their respective students’ status throughout the school year.

“Science has always been a large part of life and pushed me to strive for excellence. Being part of the FMCC STEP program in my high school years solidified my passion for science,” said DeJesus. “Education is a new step for me, but I don’t know who has more fun in the classroom, myself or my students.”
