During the February 24 board meeting, the Fonda-Fultonville Board of Education recognized the three winning candidates of the 2024-25 districtwide bus safety poster contest. The contest, which was open to all students to participate, allowed students to have an opportunity to win a free Chromebook by using their artistic talents to support bus safety. For this year, the theme was “Safety First – Safety Always.” Participating students created a poster that best fit that theme. Submitted art pieces were voted on by members of the district’s transportation company Student Transportation of America (STA).
At this week’s board meeting, STA presented the awards to the students for the poster contest. The Board of Education recognized the following students for winning the School Bus Safety poster contest sponsored by Student Transportation of America (STA):
- First Place: Mackenzie Canallatos (fifth grade)
- Second Place: Alexis Canallatos, (sixth grade)
- Third Place: Leilynn Richardson (eighth grade)
In addition, the winning entry will be submitted to represent the district in the national poster campaign. The National School Bus Safety Poster Contest is sponsored each year by the National Association for Pupil Transportation, the National Association of State Directors of Pupil Transportation Services, the National School Transportation Association, IC Bus Corporation, Thomas Built Buses, and Blue Bird Corp. Please see NAPT.org for more information. Submitted entries to that program can win up to $500.00.
