FFCSD families, friends, and community members,
The Fonda-Fultonville Central School District is preparing to hold a Capital Project vote on Tuesday, December 8th. I’m providing some insight into key areas of the upcoming vote as we introduce this transformative project to our Fonda-Fultonville community.
On December 8th, we are asking our community to review and vote on a proposed $51.5 million Capital Project. The Capital Project focuses on upgrading and modernizing district facilities, including renovations to classrooms, offices, restrooms, locker rooms and common areas; improvements to HVAC, electrical, lighting and plumbing systems; enhanced building security and safety measures; roof, flooring, door and exterior improvements; and upgrades to specific athletic fields, parking, playgrounds and learning spaces.
I am proud to announce that this project will be a tax-neutral project. I am sure you are asking what “tax neutral” means. The District, through effective budgeting and conscientious spending over the past several years, has placed 16.3% ($8.4 million) of the total project cost within our Capital Reserves. We have already collected the taxpayer funding necessary to cover the District’s portion of the project as well as any other costs not covered by State Aid. This is what it means to be “tax neutral.”
Additional information and important notifications will be available for viewing on our Capital Project web page, which can be located here. This page will be updated throughout the following months to allow our community to understand the scope of the proposed work.
We encourage our community to visit this page to learn more, and updates will be provided in the coming months as we near the Capital Project vote on Dec. 8th.
Respectfully,
Richard DeMallie, Ed. D.
Superintendent of Schools
