The following update was provided by Jr. FFA Advisor Ashley Gifford.

The Fonda-Fultonville Jr. FFA Chapter is proud to recognize several outstanding members who achieved remarkable success at the 101st New York State FFA Convention. These students dedicated countless hours from January through May preparing, studying, and practicing for their respective competitions, demonstrating tremendous commitment, perseverance, and leadership.
Anna Potter earned an impressive 4th Place out of nearly 300 contestants in the Junior Prepared Public Speaking Leadership Development Event (LDE). To compete, Anna selected a controversial topic and developed a memorized 4–6 minute speech that she delivered before a panel of judges. Reaching the state level required her to advance through both the District and Sub-State competitions. Even more impressive, Anna was the only sixth-grade student competing at the state level, making her achievement an extraordinary accomplishment.

Eva Wilmot placed 3rd out of approximately 100 contestants in the inaugural Junior Floriculture Career Development Event (CDE). During the competition, Eva demonstrated her knowledge and skills by identifying plants and equipment, solving horticulture-related math problems, completing a comprehensive exam focused on floriculture and ornamental plant production, and creating a floral arrangement using industry-standard practices. Her success highlights both her dedication and expertise in the field of horticulture.

Koal Korona and Colton Groat earned 13th Place out of 83 teams in the Junior Tool Identification Career Development Event (CDE). Throughout the competition, the pair identified a wide variety of tools, explained their functions, and demonstrated proper tool usage. Their strong performance showcased their technical knowledge, teamwork, and attention to detail.
In addition to these individual accomplishments, the Fonda-Fultonville Jr. FFA Chapter was recognized for its outstanding growth, placing 5th out of 10 chapters statewide in the Chapter 100% Membership Growth Award category. This recognition highlights the chapter’s commitment to engaging students in agricultural education and FFA opportunities. Over the past year, the chapter has experienced tremendous growth as more students have become involved in leadership development, career exploration, and service activities through FFA.
We are incredibly proud of Anna, Eva, Koal, and Colton for representing Fonda-Fultonville with excellence at the state level. Their achievements are a testament to the hard work, determination, and dedication they displayed throughout the year. Congratulations on an outstanding accomplishment!
