For over 40 years, Coach Palumbo has been a fixture in the classroom, shaping minds in sports ranging from track and field to baseball, football, and basketball. To be an educator is to love to teach, and coaching offers an outlet to give back and enrich experiences on the field. Coach Palumbo has dedicated a large amount of his personal and professional time to Fonda-Fultonville and will officially retire at the end of the 2025-26 school year.
There are a few districts throughout the region that get to call teachers of Coach Palumbo’s background and professionalism lifelong supporters of the district. They are rarer to come by these days and set an example for future educators to give more than themselves to ensure today’s students become their best and follow their passion. Coach Palumbo made an impact through teaching and then shared his baseball and basketball knowledge with an entire community for over four decades.
His list of accomplishments is undisputed. For starters, he has been a fixture at F-F for exactly 42 years, serving as a Physical Education teacher and coach. During his first five years at Fonda-Fultonville, he was the Asst. Track & Field Coach, and he has also been an Asst. Football coach for 35 years. In basketball, he has been a varsity coach for six years and a JV coach for 19 seasons. His baseball background is even more respected. He has been the JV coach for 10 years and the varsity coach for 25 years. During that time, he coached his teams to seven league titles and one sectional title (2014) and is widely respected for having 322 wins as a varsity coach.
Today, we thank Coach Palumbo for all that he has given to our student-athletes, families, and our community.
