Sullivan recognized for nearly 20 years of service on Board of Education

On Tuesday, May 19, former Board of Education President Matt Sullivan was recognized for his nearly 20 years of service and commitment to the Fonda-Fultonville school community. To recognize his service, current Board of Education member Bonnie Couture read a touching tribute recognizing his service to our community:

“Tonight, we recognize and celebrate the remarkable service of Matt Sullivan. Matt has dedicated nearly two decades to this district, serving as a board member from 2007 to 2026. During this time, he served three years as vice president and twelve years as president.

In Matt’s early years of leadership, Interim Superintendent Ray Colucciello and the board were forced to make painful mid-year cuts due to fiscal challenges, and the future looked very bleak for Fonda-Fultonville Central School. But strong leaders are defined during difficult times, and through Matt’s leadership and the commitment of the board, the district was able to move forward.

Matt and the board brought stability and a strong vision to this district, always keeping students and the future of our schools at the center of every decision. Today, our school is considered a destination school – something that reflects years of hard work, dedication, and leadership.

Matt, thank you for your commitment, your countless hours of service, and the lasting impact you have made on this district and community. We wish you happiness, good health, and success in the future.

And finally, on a personal note, serving together as president and vice president for 11 years has truly been an honor. Even through a few turbulent board meetings along the way, I can proudly say that you and your wingman landed the plane safely.”

From the Fonda-Fultonville school community, thank you for everything.
