FFCSD voters approve $37.4 million budget; capital outlay project and propositions

Voters of the Fonda-Fultonville Central School District approved a $37,430,408 million budget for the 2026-27 school year, with 243 in favor and 53 opposed – a margin of 82%.

The $37,430,408 budget for the 2026-27 school year carries a 1.70% tax levy increase, within the district’s assigned tax levy “cap” of 2.08%. A simple majority of voters (50% plus one) was needed to pass the budget. The budget includes additional employee-based training programs for educational and professional development, a special education teacher in the elementary building, and a teacher assistant at the middle school. The budget also includes funding to add a full-time senior custodian to support district operations.

The 2026-27 proposed budget also includes a capital outlay project to enhance security at public entryways in the district. A capital outlay allows the district to receive state aid for a project that maintains a long-term asset, such as the school campus.

“We are fortunate to have a community that supports our commitment to academic success for our students,” shared Superintendent of Schools Dr. DeMallie. “With our community’s support, we can continue to provide quality instruction and enable our students to have access to the programs, events, activities, and services that allow them to be successful in today’s classroom.”

One incumbent was reelected to the Board of Education: Brooke Cuddy with 184 votes. Cuddy will begin a three-year term commencing on July 1, 2026, and expiring June 30, 2029. Additionally, one write-in candidate was recognized for having the highest number of signatures for an open seat on the Board of Education. Mr. Aaron Grady will be sworn in to a three-year term commencing on May 20, 2026, or as soon thereafter as the individual will need to be sworn in. That term will expire on June 30, 2029.

In addition to the proposed budget, residents voted to lease one bus, and purchase one bus with reserves, with 250 in favor and 47 opposed. Residents also voted on a $150,000 proposition for the Frothingham Free Public Library, with 250 in favor and 49 opposed.
