In high school, the memories can last a lifetime. To be able to do what you do best – whether it’s through arts, music, academics, or sports, the impact can be great. To achieve success and be part of a team that allows you to gain confidence and build opportunities to reach your goals is always something to strive for in the classroom or in your respective sport.

This year, Colin Pickering has placed himself in the rarified air of a football program with a rich history through generations of families and players. The senior running back/linebacker currently leads the team with 1,600 yards rushing and 38 touchdowns. Upon completion of this season, Colin will have solidified his mark on the district’s football program as the all-time leader in points. That’s correct, the “all-time” leader in points for Fonda-Fultonville.
Prior to the Class C Super Bowl, we met with Colin to participate in a Q&A with the school community.
At this point in your high school career, did you think you’d be able to say you’re the all-time leader in points?
No, I didn’t really think about that. I just wanted a better ending to the season with a sectional championship.
Who do you credit for your success on and off the field?
I credit my teammates and coaches for pushing me every day in practice to make us the best players we can be. I also credit my mom and dad for always keeping me motivated and helping me through struggles.
What does the future hold for you after Fonda-Fultonville?
I plan on studying civil engineering in college. I also hope to extend my playing career at the collegiate level.
