On Monday, Feb. 7, students involved with the National Honor Society (NHS) delivered over 30 bags of food to the FFCS Backpack Program. As part of this year’s service project, the 30 NHS members, along with advisor Deidre Palmer, chose to gather items to donate to the school’s Backpack Program in order to help fellow students in need of additional food assistance.

NHS president Garrett Neff explained their outreach and support, “Our chapter believes firmly in contributing to causes that affect those in need in the most positive way. By choosing the Backpack Program, we are raising awareness and food donations for our immediate community – – whether in school or around town.”

The FFCS Backpack Program  is entirely funded by donations. The goal of the program is to provide children with enough nutritious food to have breakfast, lunch, and a snack each day over the weekend. Students pick up their backpacks each Friday and return it on Monday to be refilled for the following week.
