507 Computer Graphics

Pre-Req: Computer Applications or permission from instructor. Computer Graphics consists of instruction and hands on projects in image design, electronic imaging, equipment interfacing, image transfer and finishing. Desktop publishing and other computer technologies are stressed in this activities based learning lab.

508 Computer Applications

Computer Applications provides instruction relating to the types, uses, advantages and disadvantages of different computer systems, the evolution of today’s computer and its impact on education, industry and the individual. Personal, social, industrial, commercial and management applications of computer systems will be explored, including applications software, telecommunications, and computer control. Students will use a variety of methods to complete client-originated projects including the following: programming, spreadsheets, word processing, CAD, video and graphics.

601 Studio Art

This course is designed to expand the horizons of students, to introduce them to the varied areas of artistic expression. Emphasis will be on art appreciation, education and interest. This course includes art techniques such as drawing and painting and the study of art history.

603 Drawing & Painting

Credit: 1

Pre-Req: Studio Art. This course is a critical part of art education. It focuses on various drawing techniques utilized in all aspects of art. Drawing is an extremely useful, if not essential tool used in creative thinking. It is very helpful in the development of creative ideas and in problem-solving. Learning to draw develops the portion of the brain that visualizes. Students will learn to develop their drawing abilities thru in class assignments. Sketchbooks and journals will be assigned. In addition, this course is designed to educate students in oil, acrylic and watercolor painting and the techniques involved in the different mediums. Project that are assigned are often linked to famous painters for their technique or choice of subject. Students will become knowledgeable of artists and the era in which they painted.

607 Advanced Painting

Pre-Req: Successful completion of Painting I and Painting II, it is also recommended that a student have completed Drawing I/II. This course is designed to meet the needs of students who would like to further their knowledge and skill in painting. Emphasis of this course will be on students’ problem-solving abilities and the design and creation of long-term projects. Students will be expected to be involved in the development of each assignment. Writings will be done at the end of every project.

609 Pottery & Sculpture

Pre-Req: Studio Art, it is also recommended that a student have completed Drawing & Painting. This course explores several building techniques used in hand building clay. Students gain knowledge of these methods, as well as the firing process and glazing their three-dimensional designs. Students will learn how to further apply their drawing from different viewpoints. Sketchbooks will be assigned. In addition, this course explores several different methods of three-dimensional designing and building. It focuses on different types of sculpture and their means. Students will learn how to further apply their knowledge of perspective drawing and creative problem solving abilities into three-dimensional assignments.
