Hernigle becomes inaugural member of Montgomery County Male Athlete of the Year program

On June 6, Fonda-Fultonville senior Jake Hernigle was presented with the inaugural Montgomery County Male Athlete of the Year award. Montgomery County Executive Peter Vroman presented him with the award at the Montgomery County Student Athlete Association Athlete of the Year award ceremony. Hernigle was also recognized by former Fonda-Fultonville Superintendent of Schools and event keynote speaker Mr. Ciaccio.

Hernigle was joined in the inaugural class by Greater Amsterdam School District’s Kayla Douglas. The recognition highlights both student-athlete’s impact in their respective sports and their pursuit of excellence in the classroom. Hernigle was a standout three-sport athlete while at FFCSD.  The full article from the Daily Gazette can be found here and may require a subscription to access it.

Today, we were able to connect with Mr. Hernigle as he prepares to graduate  with his fellow Class of 2025 classmates on June 26.

It’s an honor to win and shows that all my hard work and dedication have paid off. I would like to recognize Coach Mancini, Coach Wilson, and Coach Palumbo for pushing me to reach my goals.

What are your plans at Clarkson University?

I’m going to study civil engineering with plans to design buildings, structures, and bridges and hopefully oversee engineering teams building those designs. I’m also working towards joining their baseball team.

What are your fondest memories as a student-athlete at FFCS?

If I had to choose, I would say our state championship run for our football team and my everyday connections with my friends who have become like brothers. I would also highlight this season’s baseball team run in sectional play.
