On Tuesday, November 14, the Fonda-Fultonville community voted on its new mascot name that will go into effect next school year. Out of 910 votes submitted (community and student votes), the FFCS community overwhelmingly selected the name VALLEY HAWKS to be the next school mascot.
District voters (including students in grades 5-12) were provided with a selection of five potential mascot names for this vote. The vote totals for the suggested mascot names were the following:
- Valley Hawks – 458
- Hawks – 172
- Ravens – 122
- Pioneers – 90
- Rockets – 68
Beginning in January, the district will work with graphic designers from the Capital Region BOCES Communications Service to develop a variety of logo options to represent the name Valley Hawks. Additional details will be shared with our community over the coming months and will culminate in a community-wide vote to choose the logo that will accompany the name Valley Hawks. Please note that the new mascot will officially be introduced for all school activities, athletics, and district branding at the beginning of the 2024-25 school year.
“At the beginning of this process, we knew it would be difficult to select a mascot that properly reflected our school community,” said Superintendent of Schools Mr. Thomas Ciaccio. “However, our district understands the importance of pulling together, and while we may have differences, we understand how important this next step is for Fonda-Fultonville. I want to thank our entire community for participating in this selection process, whether in a leadership or committee role or as a community/student/staff member.”
