On May 17, 2022, Fonda-Fultonville residents will head to the polls to vote on a proposed $31,962,793 spending plan for the 2022-23 school year. Under the proposal, spending would increase by 3.62% from the current year. The proposed budget carries a 1.9% tax levy increase which is below the district’s assigned tax levy “cap” of 2.61%. Budget approval requires a simple majority of voters (50% plus one).
The proposed budget maintains all programs, staff and services, along with additional mental health support for students.
The proposed budget for the coming school year was adopted unanimously by the Board of Education at its April 14 meeting.

2022-23 Capital Infrastructure Project
A capital infrastructure project will be voted on by our school community on May 17, 2022. The upcoming capital infrastructure project will center on infrastructure replacement, upgrades, and expansion that will enable the district to strengthen its capacity to create state-of-the-art learning spaces.
Primarily, the capital infrastructure project will center on specific areas involving building electric capacity for our middle and high school campuses; replacing and upgrading the plumbing and bathrooms in the middle and high school; replacing specific elementary roofs; redesigning our middle and high school parking lots and main loop to create a more efficient parking and drop-off area for students, families and staff to access our campus in a safe and timely manner.

Additional propositions to be considered by district voters:
Capital Reserve Fund Proposition
Voters to authorize the establishment of a new Capital Reserve Fund in an amount not to exceed $2,000,000.
Frothingham Free Public Library Proposition
Vote on $50,000 for the Frothingham Free Public Library in Fonda. Under state education law, funding for libraries is collected by the school district and then forwarded to the respective libraries.
Fort Hunter Free Library Proposition
Vote on $18,000 for the Fort Hunter Free Library in Amsterdam. Under state education law, funding for libraries is collected by the school district and then forwarded to the respective libraries.
Voter Eligibility
All voters must be U.S. citizens, age 18 or older and residents of the district for at least 30 days prior to the vote. Advanced registration is NOT required. You may be asked to show proof of residency (such as a valid ID that lists your address) when voting.
Board of Education election
Elect two (2) members of the Board of Education to a three (3) year term commencing on July 1, 2022, and expiring June 30, 2025. Matt Sullivan and Bonnie Couture whose terms expire on June 30, 2022 are running unopposed.
Absentee Ballots
Absentee ballots are available for residents who are unable to come to the polls if they are out of town or because of health concerns, including but not limited to illness, disability or hospitalization. Absentee voters must first complete an application. If you want the ballot mailed, the application must be received no later than May 10. To receive an application, contact the district clerk Lori Maves at 518-853-4415 ext. 4230. Completed ballots must be received by the district by mail or drop-off no later than 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17.
