Earlier this week, the Fonda-Fultonville CSD recognized the three winning candidates for the annual district wide bus safety poster contest. The contest, opened for all students to participate, allowed students to have an opportunity to win prizes while receiving recognition for their creativity highlighting bus safety. For this year, that theme was “Driving Safely Into the Future.” Participating students were tasked with designing a poster that best fits that theme for this year’s contest. Submitted art pieces were voted on by members of the district’s transportation company Student Transportation of America (STA).

During the January 22 board meeting, STA presented the awards to the students for the poster contest. The Board of Education recognized the following students for winning the School Bus Safety poster contest sponsored by Student Transportation of America (STA):

  • First Prize: Sixth-grade student Ella Galough (Computer Tablet)
  • Second Prize: Fourth-grade student Elizabeth Brush (Mountain Bike)
  • Third Prize: Seventh-grade student Allison Newkirk (Mountain Bike)

In addition, all three winning entries will be submitted to represent the district in the national poster campaign. The National School Bus Safety Poster Contest is sponsored each year by the National Association for Pupil Transportation, the National Association of State Directors of Pupil Transportation Services, the National School Transportation Association, IC Bus Corporation, Thomas Built Buses, and Blue Bird Corp. Please see NAPT.org for more information. Submitted entries to that program can win up to $500.00.
