What a fall sports season! This season had a little bit of everything for the spectators in the school community. Our introduction for this year’s review will be brief because the results this fall season were outstanding. As always, thank you to the student-athletes for the memories, the coaches for their time and dedication, and the families who trust us to lead their student(s).
Without a delay, here’s the fall sports review for 2025!
Football

State. Highlights of the season include defeating state-ranked Granville-Whitehall twice, including a 51-0 victory in the sectional semifinal, and defeating rival & state-ranked #9 Cobleskill-Richmondville 20-14 in overtime to win the division. Along the way, Colin Pickering broke the school single-season & career scoring records. We are very proud of our team’s accomplishments and will continue to build on this year’s successes.
Golf (boys’ varsity)

The links were hot for this year’s Fonda-Fultonville golf team. This year’s squad wrapped up the season with an overall record of 10-3 and capped their season with a second-place finish in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Hudson Division. The team placed fourth in the WAC Championship Tournament. This year’s team had two All-Stars for the WAC All-Star team who also qualified for the sectional tournament:
Tyler Wilson – WAC All-Star
Grayson Isabella – WAC All-Star
Soccer (boys’ varsity)

The 2025 season marked the first year back for the varsity boys’ team in three years. While wins were hard to come by, this year’s team showed steady improvement, and the competitive fire was constantly on display. The team’s lone victory came against non-league opponent Wells Central School District in the second-to-last game, a well-earned highlight for the players’ hard work and perseverance. Andy Domingo was recognized for his strong play by being named a Second Team All-Star, and overall, the season laid a solid foundation for the future of our program.
Soccer (girls’ varsity)

The 2025 girls’ varsity soccer team ended its season with a 3-7 league record and a 4-11 overall record. The team finished third in the Red Division and eighth overall in league play. With a tough schedule and a competitive league, the girls played throughout the season with grit, heart, and dedication. The girls adapted to multiple field formations, played a variety of positions, and worked hard to correct mistakes. This season, the team also collected $571 to be donated towards breast cancer research in honor of Melanie Dowgielewicz and Erin Wilmot.
FFCS Unified Bocce

What a first! This year, the first-ever Fonda-Fultonville Unified Bocce team had its inaugural season, and it was a spectacular one. Our team might have been smaller, but we competed large in heart and accuracy. This year’s team played 24 games against opponents from Ft. Plain, Amsterdam, Broadalbin-Perth, and Gloversville. The Fonda team “rolled” to victory in 15 out of the 24 games.
To put icing on the cake, the team travelled to the culminating tournament at the Italian American Community Center in Albany and captured second place in their division. The 2025 team consisted of Giac DiCaprio, Riley Duffy, Kayla Gulick, Ryan LaPort, and Riley Wilson. A special thank you to Grayson Isabella for filling in at our last match. The team is coached by Allyson Warren and Jill Gulick, our Youth Activation Committee Advisor.
Volleyball (girls’ varsity)

This season was one of growth, resilience, and teamwork for the varsity volleyball team. From the start, this year’s team embraced change and faced challenges head-on. Through their hard work and trust in one another, they quickly learned how to work and achieve their goals together.
The team finished the regular season with an impressive 12-1 league record, placing second in the WAC and a 15-1 overall record, earning them the #3 seed in the Class C sectional bracket.
In postseason play, the team defeated Schoharie at home in quarterfinals, advancing to face Stillwater, the #2 seed, in the semi-finals. After falling behind the first two sets, the team showed incredible determination – bouncing back to win the third set 25-12. Fueled by their momentum, they battled through the next two sets to claim the match and secure their spot in the sectional finals.
In the championship match, the team faced Galway, the only opponent to hand them a loss during the regular season. Although the girls fell short, they have every reason to be proud of their remarkable season. Reaching the finals is a testament to their hard work, growth, and competitive spirit.
Cheerleading

The varsity cheerleaders had another remarkable season, participating in four Game Day cheer competitions this fall—their third consecutive year of Fall competitions! With a growing team, they embraced the Game Day spirit and thoroughly enjoyed learning new routines. Class C is a challenging division in Section 2, and they secured second, third in competitions, and fourth place at sectionals. We are also delighted to congratulate Sophia-Pullen-Costillo for earning Section 2 game day all-star honors.
Beyond their competitive achievements, our cheerleaders brought an electrifying energy to every varsity football game. They hyped up the crowd during timeouts, quarter changes, and halftime. Their incredible spirit shone through as they performed countless jumping jacks for each touchdown and dazzled fans with their impressive tumbling skills. These student-athletes worked tirelessly throughout the season, and we are incredibly proud of their unwavering dedication and team spirit!
Cross-country (girls’ varsity)
The 2025 season turned into something special for a team that showed up every day ready to work for each other. The girls trained consistently all summer long, and the hard work paid off.

They went undefeated in dual meets and won the WAC Championship, with six runners earning WAC All-Star honors (Delanie McRedmond, Alexandra Pelaez, Cheyenne Stuart, Natalie Girard, Anabelle Miller, and Allison Newkirk) – showing just how deep and hard-working this team was. They also had a great invitational season, winning the Fort Plain Invitational and taking second place at the Grout Invitational against some strong competition.
The season wrapped up with a huge performance at the Section II Class C Championships, where the girls placed second in a contested race. This is their best finish in several years and indicative of the growth this group has made.
Cross-country (boys’ varsity)
The 2025 season was extremely rewarding for the boys’ team. Led by a pack of five seniors, they enjoyed a great deal of success.

This year’s team went undefeated in dual meets and won the WAC Championship, led by Brennan Melita, the individual WAC Champion, with six more runners earning WAC All-Star honors (Kyran Clark, Reed Sargalis, Aiden Butler, Exavier Garcia, Logan Musto, and Carter Rose). The boys also had a strong invitational season, picking up big wins at both the EJ Herrmann Invitational and the Fort Plain Invitational.
Their biggest moment came at the Section II Class C Championships, where they ran their best race of the year to win the team title and punch their ticket to the State Championship meet. Against some of the strongest programs in New York, the boys finished fifth in the state, putting an exclamation point on an incredible season.
Swim (girls’ varsity)

Congratulations to our FoJo Swimmers, Harper Huckans, and Isabella Rice. Isabella had a great season where she had a number of personal records (PR’s). Harper also had a great season. She qualified for the Sectional Finals in four events! Her 400 Free Relay Team finished fifth while her 200 Med Relay finished sixth. Harper also PR’d in the 100 Free and the 100 Back.
