Dec. 22: Positive case notification & communications during winter break

Dear FFCS families:

Today the Fonda-Fultonville Central School District confirmed that one member of the High School and one member of the Middle School have tested positive for COVID-19, as well as three members of an outside vendor that the school contracts with. At this time, Montgomery County Public Health has advised us that there was limited exposure to one of these cases and three people will need to quarantine. These individuals have already been contacted. If you have not been contacted by a school representative or public health then you know you were not in close contact with any of these individuals and you do not need to quarantine.

We are not permitted by privacy laws to identify the individual involved. The individuals who tested positive are in quarantine for the recommended time and will not return to school until cleared by the Department of Health. We again remind you that we are following all of the necessary health and safety precautions outlined in our reopening plan, including mask-wearing, social distancing and enhanced cleaning and disinfecting. We will continue to work in close partnership with our public health partners.

As a school district we have decided that during the holiday recess we will not be sending out communication for positive COVID-19 cases unless they require contact tracing amongst our staff and students. As a reminder, school is closed for winter recess starting Thursday, Dec. 24. We will resume our hybrid learning model beginning on Monday, Jan. 4. Please refer to the school calendar on our website to see what grades or groups are in-person at that time.

We wish all of our families a safe and healthy holiday.

Sincerely,

Thomas Ciaccio
Superintendent of Schools
