Palumbo gains 300th career win versus Fort Plain

During the week of April 21-25, FFCS varsity baseball Coach Rich Palumbo reached 300 wins in his illustrious baseball coaching career. The landmark win came after Fonda-Fultonville secured an 11-1 win against Fort Plain in Western Athletic Conference play.

Mr. Palumbo has been the head varsity baseball coach in the district for 24 years and counting. Coach Palumbo also taught physical education in the district for 37 years, in addition to coaching baseball at the JV and modified level (22 years) and basketball at the JV level (nine years) and varsity (six years). He has also been a coach for the F-F football program for 35 seasons at various levels.

“I’ve been fortunate to coach the players that have come through our program over the years,” stated Palumbo. “For me, it has always been about the players as a coach.”

The district would like to thank Mr. Palumbo for his dedication and coaching to our students past and present. The commitment to our district and teaching/coaching has been instrumental in the lives of many students who have walked the hallways of Fonda-Fultonville.

“I am honored to congratulate Coach Palumbo on reaching such a milestone,” shared Superintendent of Schools Dr. DeMallie. “I was blessed to play for Coach Palumbo during my time as a student- athlete here at FFCSD. He taught me so many life lessons that I have carried with me through my educational career. I can not thank him enough for his dedication to our school, community and our students. Again, congratulations Coach and thank you!”
