Water testing information 2021

Dear members of the Fonda-Fultonville community,

As you may be aware, state law requires public schools in New York state to test for lead in all water outlets currently or potentially used for drinking or cooking.

This letter is to inform you about the results of water testing completed at all Fonda-Fultonville facilities this past fall. At this time, all functioning drinking fountains and bottle fill stations are within the safe limits as determined by the NYS Department of Health. All testing was completed in September 2020.

The first round of testing showed that five water outlets in the elementary and middle school returned results above the action level. These outlets were retested for accuracy. The retest showed only one water outlet remained above the action level. That outlet was eliminated and is no longer in use.

There were two outlets at the high school that were above the action level. Both of these water outlets are in bathrooms that have signs that they are for hand washing only.

Please know the safety and health of our students and staff is our highest priority, and we will work diligently to rectify every faucet that has returned action level samples.

Visit this linkĀ on our webpage forĀ resources about water testing, as well as complete test results. The samples that showed action levels for lead are highlighted in yellow. An email of this letter will be sent out on Friday, May 28 to all families.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this matter, please contact my office at (518) 853-4415 ext. 8.

Sincerely,
