Tax Assessment and Rate Information

The district is aware that tax rates in some of our townships have increased over 10% for district residents. It is important to note that tax assessments are set by each municipality, and the district has no control over the assessment roll. We have continued to work to understand the change in assessments in our coverage area. Currently, the Fonda-Fultonville Central School District has a tax base that includes 11 different townships. Please note that tax rates can vary from one municipality to another.

This year, the market value of properties in certain townships increased. For example, in the Town of Glen, the assessed value increased from $96,804,221 to $98,929,991. This is an increase of over $2 million. Additionally, the townships are responsible for communicating property tax exemptions and when they affect the homeowner. A tax levy can affect each town differently, and is dependent on many factors, such reassessments. Please know that tax rates are established by a combination of equalization rate, assessed value, and the school tax levy. The district only sets the levy amount.

As we move forward, we will work to communicate the tax levy comparisons from the previous year when the tax rates are set in August. We encourage anyone with questions or concerns related to their recent assessment to reach out to your respective assessors. We’ve provided that contact information below.

We thank you for your cooperation during this time.
