FFES introduces schedule of events to honor Veterans Day

Each year, the Fonda-Fultonville Elementary School hosts events and programs to celebrate their support for our veterans, as part of Veterans Day. For the 2022-23 school year, the FFES is sharing the following events to honor those who have served our nation:

Veterans Day Celebration: On Thursday, November 10, the FFES will hold its annual Veterans Day Celebration in the high school auditorium. Please note that this event is not open to the public, as seating is limited. The district will be inviting all veterans/active service people and their family members to join in this year’s event. The invitation for this year’s celebration can be found HERE.  Guests may begin arriving through the high school entrance at 12:30 pm, where greeters will be waiting to direct you.

***IMPORTANT REMINDER***

The district will be collecting photos of veterans to include in a slideshow that will be part of our celebration.  These can be sent via e-mail to lvosburgh@ffcsd.org.  Unfortunately, we cannot accept printed photos; they must be sent electronically.  If interested, photos must be received by Wednesday, October 26 in order to be included in the slideshow.

Leatherstocking Honor Flight: The district will once again be supporting the Leatherstocking Honor Flight, which allows veterans to travel free of charge to Washington, D.C. to visit the war memorials.  To accomplish this, we will be selling patriotic pinwheels for $1 each.  If you would like to purchase a pinwheel, please send a note with your child’s name, classroom teacher and number of pinwheels requested — along with payment — by Wednesday, October 26.  Please place in an envelope labeled Attn: Mrs. Vosburgh.  The district will be displaying the pinwheels along the sidewalk in front of the elementary school.  After Veterans Day, purchased pinwheels will be sent home with students.

FFES Bottle Drive: A bottle drive will also take place at the Fultonville Redemption Center on Main Street in Fultonville.  You can drop off your bottles and cans to the center anytime from October 23-29.  Please remember to let them know they are for the Leatherstocking Honor Flight.  The center is generously giving us six cents per return.
