Fonda-Fultonville is launching a 1:1 Chromebook Program during the 2019-20 school year.
This pilot phase will include fifth grade students, who will be issued a Chromebook that will be kept at school, and ninth grade students, who will be issued a Chromebook they will bring home at the end of each school day.
I don’t have internet access at home or it is limited. How will my child be able to use the Chromebook?
When internet access is unavailable, Chromebooks can still work in an offline mode with common applications (“apps”) such as Google Docs, Google Sheets and others. More information can be found in Google’s Support Article.
My child already has a Chromebook or laptop, can they just use that?
The district-owned and provided Chromebooks include features that allow them to be managed in the classroom and to allow usage to be filtered and protected, whether at home or at school. For this reason, students will use the district-provided device rather than a personal device while in school.
What happens if the Chromebook is damaged?
Students are responsible for taking care of their district-issued Chromebook. In the event the Chromebook, AC adapter (charging cable), or protective carrying case is damaged or lost, fees will be assessed. In order to make these fees predictable, the district has developed the following fee schedule.
Additionally, the district is offering annual coverage at a cost of $25 that will cover two damage claims over the course of 4 years. Families who receive reduced-price meals can sign up for this coverage at a reduced rate of $10. Families who receive free meals can be enrolled in this coverage at no cost.

How do I know that the Chromebook will not be used to access inappropriate material when at home?
Web browsing on district Chromebooks is filtered at school and at home. While filters are effective at limiting inappropriate content from being accessed, no technological service is perfect. Parents/Guardians are encouraged to supervise the use of their child’s Chromebook and to talk to their children about the use of their device. Students are responsible for the activity that takes place on their device. Chromebooks should only be used by the assigned student, and not other family members.
Can stickers be placed on the device?
No stickers other than district-placed inventory labels are allowed on the devices.
