The district is pleased to announce that it has named a new Director of Facilities. Mr. Michael Morin will begin his tenure with the district on Monday, Dec. 1. He was officially appointed by the Board of Education on Thursday, November 13.
Since 2018, Mr. Morin has been the senior custodian at the Greater Amsterdam School District. In that role, he was responsible for maintaining buildings and grounds, from overseeing electrical and heating systems to snow removal and plumbing. Additionally, Mr. Morin oversaw custodian scheduling and arranged for building oversight involving campus buildings for school activities and events.
Prior to his role as senior custodian, Mr. Morin was employed as a custodian at the Greater Amsterdam School District from 2014 to 2018. In that role, he was introduced to practices of building maintenance and cleaning. He also played a role in developing a grounds maintenance program and worked on campus to ensure health and safety protocols were followed in accordance with New York State regulations.
“We are incredibly pleased to have Mr. Morin’s professional experience to lead our school district’s building and grounds team,” shared Superintendent of Schools Dr. DeMallie. “We value his leadership and ability to understand our campus needs and look forward to his work maintaining our campus in the years to follow.”
