Surprise concert, faculty and staff recognition highlight Opening Day 2017-18

A surprise concert and faculty and staff recognition were among the highlights of Opening Day festivities held Tuesday, Sept. 5.

Opening Day is the welcome event for faculty and staff members and is marked by a conference with Superintendent Thomas Ciaccio to review important policies, procedures and initiatives for the upcoming school year. It is traditionally held the day before school starts. First day for students is Wednesday, Sept. 6.

Among the presentations were a faculty and staff recognition ceremony to honor their many years of service. Teacher Jim Murray was recognized for 35 years of service!

Events were kicked off with a concert by “The Rubric Cubes,” a band of faculty musicians: Stephanie Lasselle, Dave Zadoorian, Lisa Vosburgh, Chad Lenig, Greg Kowalczyk and Beth Zajaceskowski.¬†They played “Hit Me With Your Best Shot,” by Pat Benetar, “The Eye of the Tiger,” and “Don’t Stop Believin’,” by Journey.
