Fifth grade students in Laura Hayes-Bowles’ class learned about the scientific method for the first four weeks of school.┬áThe class recorded data in charts, made graphs and completed several labs, including the end-of-unit “challenge lab.” Each student could choose their own experiment to perform, such as “Which ball will bounce higher from 100 centimeters?” and “How many pennies will an aluminum boat hold before sinking?” Other students tested cars on an inclined plane, tested what sticks to a balloon and many more.
