Regional Odyssey of the Mind tournament to return to FFCS

FFCS is gearing up to host the regional Odyssey of the Mind competition again this year on Saturday, March 9. The program challenges students to use their creativity, resourcefulness, teamwork and communication skills to solve problems through performance skits.

The district will welcome 70 teams of students in grades K-12 representing 11 districts, with an expected turnout of more than 1,000 people. FFCS has nine teams competing this year. The competition is from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., with an awards ceremony at 6 p.m. Winners will advance to Binghamton for the state competition in early April.

FFCS hosted last year’s regional competition for the first time. OM Coordinator Shelly Sanges said the district was complimented on the look of the campus and the friendliness of volunteers and staff. A volunteer crew of 50 staff and students will rally again this year to help make competition day run smoothly.
