Fonda-Fultonville students are honing their skills this week ahead of the 2019 Sherburne Pageant of Bands.
This year, more than 40 school districts are participating, and the event can sometimes draw more than 20,000 people to the village of Sherburne in northern Chenango County.
FFCS students have given award-winning performances in recent years and are aiming to do their best in the 70th edition of the Sherburne Pageant of Bands.
Below is the schedule for FFCS’s contingent participating in the 2019 Sherburne Pageant of Bands:
Thursday, May 30 -Jr. Jazz departs FFCS at 3 p.m.; warm-up 4:40 p.m.; perform at 5 p.m.
Friday, May 31– FFCS Jazz I and Small Ensemble departs FFCS at 2 p.m. Small Ensemble performs at 4 p.m.; Jazz I performs at 7 p.m.
Saturday, June 1 – FFCS Marching band, Wind Symphony and 7-8 Band departs FFCS at 8:10 a.m. Wind Symphony Performs at 11:20 a.m.; 7-8 Band performs at noon; Marching Band Parade steps off at 1 p.m. Drumline follows the parade.
The Sherburne Pageant of Bands started in 1949 as the Sherburne Band Festival, with Sherburne High School hosting Earlville, Gilbertsville, Greene, Hamilton, New Berlin, Norwich, Oxford and West Winfield.
The Sherburne Pageant of Bands, sponsored by the Sherburne Fire Department, is free and open to the public. Parking and concessions are available near Sherburne-Earlville High School in Sherburne.
