The Fonda-Fultonville Central School expects all chaperones, including employees of the school and volunteers, to maintain the highest ethical standards, follow district policies and regulations, and abide by state and federal laws. Chaperone conduct is expected to enhance the integrity of the district and advance the goals of educational programs.
Chaperoning students is a duty that requires constant vigilance and supervision of the students whom are being supervised. All supervision of students, whether on or off the campus, needs to be conducted in a similar manner.
At all times, chaperones must:
1. Conduct themselves in a manner that demonstrates and models the behaviors we expect from our students; that includes, but is not limited to: no smoking, drinking, gambling, use of profanity, or conducting oneself in a manner that is not appropriate for a staff member of the Fonda-Fultonville Central School District;
2. Be in direct supervision of students at all times, unless a specific circumstance that is previously approved by the building principal;
3. Ensure that students are behaving in a manner that is within the Student Code of Conduct for that school, and have the supervisor of the field trip take appropriate measures if it does not occur.
Above all, understand that they are responsible for the safe transport of students to and from any event, as well as during the activity they are being offered. Above all, the safety and well-being of our students, being paramount, must be the guiding factor in all actions while on any activity requiring chaperones.
