Parents of children with disabilities have the right under Federal and State law to obtain an independent evaluation of their child at public expense under certain conditions. The requirements and standards for independent valuations are set forth in the Regulations of the New York State Commissioner of Education 8 N.Y.C.R.R. 200.5(a)(1)(vi) and 34 Code of Federal Regulations 300.503.
