Definition of a Policy | Policy 1410

The Board of Education considers policy development to be its primary responsibility. Policies are those outcomes of planning and evaluation which guide the Board in its operation and are guides for action by the administrative staff. Policies also act as a means of communication with the community, staff and students relative to the district’s philosophy and objectives and Board decisions. Policies should be broad enough to allow for discretionary action by the administration yet narrow enough to give clear guidance.
