Key Club earns awards at leadership training conference

four high school students in formal attire hold a plaqueThe Fonda-Fultonville High School Key Club attended the annual New York District Key Club Leadership Training Conference in Albany in March and took home some prestigious awards.

The club was awarded first place for the New York District Key Club Governor’s Project Award. This award is presented to a club that has produced the best project dedicated to the service initiative selected by the New York District Key Club Governor during the Key Club year. The 2017-18 District Governor’s Project is the “Honeybee Conservancy.”

The club was awarded the Interclub Award for the project Rise Against Hunger – 10,000 Dinners. Interclub is the act of participating in events throughout the year with other Key Clubs in the region. The Fonda-Fultonville High School Key Club participated along with Johnstown Key Club and Mayfield Key Club in the project Rise Against Hunger – 10,000
Dinners.

The  club was also awarded the second place Kiwanis Family Relations Award for their cemetery cleanup project with the Fonda-Fultonville Middle School Builders Club and the Gloversville-Johnstown Kiwanis Club.

The Early Bird Dues award was presented to the club for submission of the membership dues prior to the Early Bird Dues deadline.

The Achieved Increased Membership Award was presented to the club for increasing membership by more than 50 percent from the previous year.

Fonda-Fultonville Key Club member Tyler Kearns was awarded the distinct honor of Outstanding Key Club Member Award for the senior class grade level of the New York District Key Club. Tyler was also awarded the high honor of Distinguished Key Clubber Award for 2017-18.

Fonda-Fultonville High School Key Club is a service organization for high school students. The projects and activities undertaken by the Key Club provide learning experiences outside of the classroom and encourages students to become involved in their school and community.
