The students in Rita Garguilo’s first grade class had the opportunity to work with Vicki Palmer, Fonda Fultonville’s Director of Dining Services, to create the school’s lunch menu for the month of April.
Students prior to creating the menu choices, students talked about what constitutes healthy food choices from the different food groups. Students shared their ideas of what they would like to see on the school’s lunch menu.
Some highlights from the menu include Cookie for Everyone Day on April 18. Everyone received a cookie, even if they didn’t purchase a school lunch.
On April 26, Garguilo’s students was treated to a luncheon served by Palmer. The students sampled General Tsao’s spicy chicken with rice and a fortune cookie, and they were able to eat their lunch with chopsticks.
