Fonda-Fultonville’s chapter of the FFA recently received a $400 donation from Farm Credit East, an agricultural financial service.
The donation was delivered by branch manager Rob Yurkewecz, a Fonda-Fultonville alumnus from the Class of 1996.
“We’re happy to do anything we can to further the program and keep kids interested in agriculture,” Yurkewecz said.
Fonda-Fultonville agriculture teacher and FFA advisor Sheri Boardman said the students will ultimately decide how the funds are used at one of their upcoming meetings. She said it could be used to send students to the state FFA convention this spring.
“We’re so grateful to receive this support from Farm Credit East,” Boardman said. “Our FFA chapter and the district’s agriculture program has received incredible support from our community. This donation will go a long way toward providing programming and opportunities for our students.”
Fonda-Fultonville’s FFA chapter is open to middle school and high school students. FFA gives students opportunities to explore their interests in a broad range of agricultural career pathways and helps students develop leadership skills.
