Running for the Board of Education

Each year the Board of Education election takes place on the date of the budget vote, the third Tuesday of May.

Members of the Board of Education are elected by the voters of the district to establish policy and direct the administration of our schools.

Qualifications of Board of Education Members

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Able to read and write.
  • Resident of the district continuously for one year before the election.
  • Members cannot be employed by the school district or live in the same household with a family member who is also a member of the same school board.

New York State Education Law does not limit the number of terms of office a member may serve. Board members serve volunteer, three-year terms. They receive no salary or other compensation.
