Seeks Families Displaced by Flooding
Fonda-Fultonville CSD is asking
families displaced by the recent flood to contact them.
Was your family or a family you know displaced
by the flood of June 2006?
The McKinney-Vento Education Program, a federal
law, gives students who are homeless and temporarily relocated
after an act of nature, such as a flood, the right to attend
school in their home district as long as they live within a
50-mile radius of the home district. Their home district must
provide free transportation.
The Fonda-Fultonville CSD is trying to determine
how many students were affected by the flood and what the
district’s legal obligations are. Any family that is unable to
live in their home because of the June 2006 flood should
contact the Pupil Services Office at 853-3189, ext 4234 for a
Family Temporary Relocation form,
download one from this page,
or pick one up in any of the school buildings or various
locations around town. The banks, post-offices, and several
businesses will have them. Residents will be asked where they
used to live, where they live now and how long they plan on
living there. The answers will allow school officials in all
districts to determine students’ residency status and provide
necessary transportation when school starts.
