On Saturday, Oct. 29 the Fonda-Fultonville Kiwanis “K” family teamed up to clean up the historic section of the Caughnawaga Cemetery on Cemetery Street in Fonda for Make-A-Difference Day. This is a joint Kiwanis Family Project consisting of the F-F Kiwanis Club and its sponsored youth groups of the F-F High School Key Club and the Fonda-Fultonville Middle School Builders Club.

The K-family spent the morning clearing away brush and small trees filling 2 trucks with the debris. The Key Club provided and planted perennial Spring bulbs to enhance the appearance of this portion of the cemetery. This is the seventh year for this project in which the K-family joins together to clear this section of the cemetery to assure that the monuments and gravesites are kept visible. The headstones date from the 1760’s through the mid-1800’s. Kiwanis family participants included 32 members of the 2 sponsored youth groups and 6 adults to complete this community service project. Thank you to all that participated.

Make A Difference Day is a day for all community service organizations across the U.S. to do a community project. It's promoted by USA Weekend magazine, The Points of Light Foundation and the Volunteer Center National Network.
