4X-Country Boys win State Championship
Win a first for
Fonda-Fultonville The F-F boys
cross country team made school history this fall, winning the
cross country state championship held at Queensbury High School on
Saturday, Nov. 12.
Seniors John
Moore, Jeff Dufel and E.J. Givis, along with juniors Jeremy
McAllister, Joe Geniti, Blake Dwyer and Brian Palumbo together
brought in a score of 55 points at the championship meet - 12
points ahead of runner-up Canastota (Section III).
The win
brought FFCSD its first state championship in interscholastic
sports.
Head Coach
Mark Therrien said the team started the season with one phrase in
mind - "One Team, One Goal."
That goal he
said, was to go all the way.
"Obviously
its a great thing for the school, but the most important thing is
that the guys are proud of themselves," Therrien said. "They had
it in their heads that they were going to win the championship,
and I was impressed by their long-term commitment."
