Middle School food drive hits 3500 items

Fonda-Fultonville Middle School showed that it truly cares during the Middle School Student Council's annual November Food Drive. The student body contributed an incredible 3,500 food and toiletry items to the Fulmont Community Action Agency. Fulmont will distribute the items throughout the winter months to local families.

Each November, the Middle School Student asks Middle School students to bring in non-perishable food items and toiletries for this worthy cause. Student Council members visit each homeroom explaining the program and encouraging students to participate. To add a little incentive, each homeroom competes for the coveted "Golden Can" trophy. This year's winner was Mr. Thompson's 6th grade homeroom with a donation of 536 items.

The drive got some extra help from the Golub Corporation, which donated 50 dollars to purchase items for the food drive, and the Gloversville WalMart, which donated a 30-dollar gift card to purchase items. Their generosity added to the total number of items donated.

On November 20th, Student Council members organized and boxed items and helped to load them onto the Fulmont truck.
