Vote! Vote! Vote!
How do you teach over 450 middle school students the importance
of voting? You hold a full-blown political rally!
With just two weeks to go until election day, Fonda-Fultonville
Middle School held its own presidential rally in the high school
auditorium on Tuesday, October 21st. This was no routine
assembly; the event had all of the pomp and circumstance of an
actual rally.
The Middle School 5-8 chorus under the direction of Mrs. Cassidy
opened the ceremonies by singing the "Star Spangled Banner."
Middle School Principal Beth Donovan welcomed everyone and
explained the history and significance of the Pledge of
Allegiance. Student Council President Chelsea Jablonski then led
everyone in the pledge.
Social Studies teacher Steve Vunk who emceed the program
reminded everyone to cheer for their preferred candidates, but
that booing was unacceptable. He encouraged everyone to register
to vote in the school's mock election to be held on Tuesday,
November 4th.
