School Character Education
The middle school character education program focuses on 10 traits of character building, which are:
- Perseverance
- Respect
- Courage
- Trustworthiness
- Citizenship
- Fairness
- Responsibility
- Caring
- Honesty
- Loyalty
Each month the entire school will concentrate on one of these traits. We are asking teaches and staff to reinforce and recognize the use of these positive behaviors.
Kids with Character
Each staff member will be provided with monthly recognition slips to be awarded to students who demonstrate that month's trait. These will be displayed in the cafeteria on the "Kids with Character" wall. At the end of the month these slips will be placed in a drawing for prizes. These slips will replace the previously used reward slips.
Student of Distinction
Each month all teachers will nominate one student who they feel demonstrates qualities representing the character trait of the month. The parents of the student will receive a letter indicating their child's accomplishment and the student's name will be announced at the "Student of Distinction" Assembly. All nominations will be displayed in the middle school as part of our wall of fame.
