Band capture first at Gorham music competition
Three hours on a school bus is a long way, but
the trip proved worth it for the Fonda-Fultonville music
program. Our students walked away being named the best Class B
school in the annual Gorham Festival of Band competition on May
29-30.
This was the group's first trip to this
competition (Gorham is near Canandaigua, one Thruway exit east
of Rochester). The Wind Ensemble took first place in the concert
band competition with a score of 187 out of a possible 200
points. Jazz Ensemble took first place with a score of 90 out of
100. Junior Jazz took second place with a score of 78.5 and
Marching Band took third place with a score of 81.5. Matt Carter
was named the festival's best overall soloist. The combined
scores earned Fonda-Fultonville the highest overall rating and
"The Best in Class" trophy for Class B. Congratulations to Mr.
Lenig, Mr. Kowalczyk, and the members of the band program on
their terrific accomplishment!
