Eight F-F Elementary School artists will their works at a PTA statewide art show under the PTA Reflections program. The students qualified for the state level after their pieces were selected at the Regional Art Show on Dec. 8.

Selected in visual arts are Kindergartner Colen Melo, first graders Haley Clear and Mckenna Beddig, and fourth graders Brittany Castelluccio and Hannah Wozniak; in photography is fourth grader Jennifer Castle; and in literature are fourth graders Katherine York and Savannah Bell (4-Mahon).

An additional 10 students were honored for their visual arts at the regional level. Named were first graders Connor Courtoies and Kyle Lawyer and fourth graders Aiden Zenzen, Zachary Guiffrie, Emma Rhodes, Destiny Foster, Abigail Chicoski, Nicole Folmsbee, Allison Whitman, Zariah Hentnik, Christopher Hernigle, and Linda Wenskoski .

The program is designed to increase student achievement, promote the arts at home, in the school and in the community, and encourage children's creativity. Students were asked to interpret theme "Beauty is..." in their work in the art areas of dance choreography, film production, literature, musical composition, photography and visual arts.

Although Reflections has been around for 40 years it has been only recently that the PTA has enlisted the help of the elementary art teacher Kathleen Bushek to increase participation in the program. Working with local PTA Reflections Chair person Doris Castle, the numbers of students participating in the program have more than doubled from the first year.
Last year five students participated. One student, sixth grader Eva Brown had a drawing displayed at the State Show.
